Pak Mail treats packages and clients with care

It’s not what they do, but how they do it.

“Every package is treated as something that is highly valued by us,” said Tim Kincade, owner of Pak Mail Jonesboro. “We’ve seen some things and we’ve done some big jobs, but it’s every job that matters.”

From stealthily crating and transporting the most extensive collection of private art to ensuring that special gift from family members far away arrives intact, the professionals at Pak Mail Jonesboro have become known as industry leaders.

Surprisingly, of all that the industry consultant has seen, it’s the lack of understanding by the general public of what their package, and its valued contents, endure once it leaves their hands.

“People come in with a package with their stuff wrapped in some cloth or newspaper as if they were going to put it on the back of a truck and move it across town,” Kincade said. “They don’t understand all that package is going to go through before it gets to where it is going.”

Packages are subject to a rigorous process at the hands of robots, not just parcel carriers. This makes the process faster but a lot rougher on thin cardboard boxes. Although the client may have painstakingly written “Fragile” or “This Side Up” on the box, it doesn’t mean it’s now ready to handle the rough ride ahead.

“That’s well and good you have that written down, but in today’s modern world it isn’t very effective,” he said. “Packages go through these sorting facilities that are just conveyors and robots. They can fall off a conveyer, 5 or 20 feet high, or tumble around at some point.”

When they do find their way to the experienced hands of a delivery person, that parcel employee is charged with loading and delivering hundreds of packages in a set amount of time. This means your package doesn’t get that personal touch as it did when it left Pak Mail Jonesboro.

“We are looked at as the best because we view every package as that person’s treasure,” Kincade said. “Our goal is to package those to industry standards and insure them at any value and make sure it gets to where it needs to be the way that the customer intended and in the same shape as when it left their hands.”

Pak Mail’s expertise has earned the respect of residents in the Jonesboro region as well as clients around the world.

The largest job in packaging and shipping history involved Kincade, his crew of 5 carefully handpicked crew, a dummy climate-controlled semi and numerous organizations working in symphony. This was around 2013 and the unexpected death of an international celebrity in Branson, Mo., created a dilemma for a widow looking to sell one of the largest private art collections to numerous buyers. With little time to organize and in the dead of winter, the crew professionally packaged and shipped more than 100 pieces of art valued at $45 million from the home, theater and restaurant of the entertainer, without ever being detected by mourning fans or the press.

“We had a few days to get everything together and had to work fast,” Kincade said. “We took them down and packaged them on the spot, moved them into a climate-controlled tractor-trailer and shipped them. But once we got all those expensive pieces packaged, shipped and delivered to auction houses around the country. It was a big job, and when we were finished, they started looking at us as the go-to company for those priceless items.”

Pak Mail now works with Sotheby’s, Christie’s and other international art dealers. They not only manage the packing and shipping but put measures in place to foil any would-be thieves of these world-renowned objects.

“When dealing with that kind of value, there are extreme measures that have to be taken to the satisfaction to all companies involved,” Kincade said. “We pulled it off.”
